Make a room on Polyvore!

Looking for a green for my dining room, I used the color grabber tool from Microsoft Paint and picked out a pretty apple green from the flowers in this photo I took from an Apartmenttherapy.com photo. The white table is on Ebay right now and the console tables are from Home Decorators.com. Pretty neat tool I invented. You'd almost think I stole the idea from Polyvore. This site does the same thing but even better, it will itemize the items you add to the room so you can keep a list of what you want to buy. Check out the group Interior Designers on Polyvore.com

My little phonies

Apparently it is the 25th Anniversary of My Little Pony and there is a contest to see who can make the coolest new colts. These came from an artist called Spippo. click on the Pony Pics to go to her site.

Recipe Chain

My friend Heather sent me an chain email. Something I haven't gotten since high school, but this one is super cool. It's a recipe chain. I sent out my recent favorite recipe to a person on her list and an email to 20 people inviting them to send out recipes to one of my friends. I don't know if it will work, but I thought I'd post them here when I get them.

My recipe is Quiche Your Figure Goodbye (a modified Quiche Lorraine Recipe). Here it is and I'll add to it as I get good ones.

Ingredients:
Frozen Pie Shell
Veggies (mushrooms, leeks, and zucchini or add others you have in your frig already)
1 lb grated Swiss Cheese or Gruyere (optional)
6 eggs
Heavy Cream
Milk
Nutmeg
Salt and Pepper

Directions:
Pre-bake pie shell: Use a fork to punch holes along sides and bottom. Pre-bake for 10 minutes on the bottom shelf of the oven at 400 F. Let cool.
Saute vegetables on medium to low heat in butter until fully cooked:
1 medium zucchini small cubes
1 leek sliced thin
8 oz mushrooms sliced and tossed with a little fresh lemon juice to keep them
white (also add mushrooms about five minutes after the zucchini and leeks which take
longer to cook).
Let cool.
Add 1lb grated Swiss cheese (optional) to bottom of cooled pie shell.
Add cooled cooked veggies to pie shell.

Beat together...
6 eggs
1/2 pint heavy cream
1 pint Milk
1 tsp Salt
1/8th tsp pepper
1/8th tsp nutmeg
Pour into pie shell and bake on lowest shelf (so the pie crust cooks thoroughly) at 375 F until the filling is set and the top is golden (20-30 minutes) Serve hot or cold.

The Oval Office

Way to go Americans! You've voted with your hearts and brought in a new era of change. Everyone's mind is occupied with important concerns at this crucial time in history and I pray for all those who've fallen on hard times.

So I hope you'll allow me at least one frivilous concern. A trifle really. What is it, you ask? Ok, I'll tell you. I can't wait to see... how WILL our 44th President decorate the Oval Office? Yeah, you heard me correctly. So, Country, we've just witnessed what is socially one of the most interesting and inspiring historical events in our lifetime, and in more ways than one, along with Change comes a whole new color scheme. (Don't huff at my shallowness.)

So while we have to wait on the edge of our seats and wonder, here are some of my favorite pictures of the Oval Office of times past taken from the White House Museum Website. Ridiculous, I am aware.

My top pick goes to President Ronald Reagan's Oval Office Decor

President Gerald Ford with his dog Liberty

President Lyndon B. Johnson watches Martin Luther King's assassination on TV

1977 Jimmy Carter

You may notice that almost all the Presidents used the Resolute Desk. The desk was made famous by a photograph of President John F. Kennedy at work while his son, John Jr., peeked out from behind the kneehole panel.
